EXPRESS Yourself

In Inspiration, Knowledge, Motivation, Truth, Wisdom by Cliff Green8 Comments

If you knew me, you would know that I am a people watcher. I like to sit back and pay attention to the world around me. The other day I was walking down Alabama Ave. on my way home. As I was walking, I passed a young man who was maybe 18 or 19 years old. As usual I looked at him in the face and eyes to show recognition and as usual it wasn’t reciprocated. So as I got closer I noticed that he was doing some crazy sag, where his shirt was tucked in or really tight, I don’t know but it showed the front of his draws. He had on EXPRESS draws. This was his intention though. He wanted people to know the brand of his underwear; hence his crazy sag. I was so confused. He looked like he was trying to express himself as a gangster but to me his expression just didn’t make any sense. Cats are walking around trying to be the biggest gangster and tough guy but will have a gay white designer’s name wrapped around their waist. That’s what we call an oxyMORON. More importantly when you sag, you simply look like a MORON. When actuality you need to just simply look like a MOOR.

Does life imitate art or does art imitate life? Fashion is a form of art. Since we are so culturally deprived of our heritage and knowledge of self; we do and wear everything that has been given to us from the same people who wiped away our culture. Therefore our lives imitate their art. From the language we speak, clothes we wear, our actions and to the messiah you praise, Jesus Christ (Yahshua Ha Mashiac). You cannot honestly tell me or yourself that when you first think of Jesus, that you do not see a white man. The image of Caesar Borgia is ingrained in our psyches. Because someone knew that life imitates art.

The confusion that lies within our community can be healed. It is going to take right knowledge and wisdom to pull us from our current state of sleep. Knowledge of self, will make anyone want to wear clothes and do things that are beneficial to them self and their people. We have to go back to expressing our selves in our true nature. We have to quit being scared of being labeled or tagged as being “too black”. There is nothing wrong with self-expression. In fact expression of self does not mean that we hate others. It just means that we appreciate and respect ourselves and all those that came before us. When we express this art form, others truly will imitate it.

Writing, staying healthy and physically fit while leading others to do the same is how I express myself. How do you express yourself? Leave a comment below and let the world know.

As always, thank you for reading!

  1. Hey Cliff….

You are doing an awesome job! I express myself through my intelligence and through the teachings I provide for my child. Keep up the great work. I look forward to the next post.

  2. Loved the read little cousin and I’m so proud of your growth.
The way I express myself is through song. Whatever I’m feeling and wherever I am, if a song comes to me it has to come out. Even if I’m singing because I’m hungry and it’s time to eat lol! People say “You can find a song for anything!”
It’s gotten me through many rough days!

  3. Again GREAT read!!! The way I express myself is through my dialogue, working out, being as healthy as possible and getting others to join in as well. The way you carry yourself is the way you express yourself and its also the way people will view you. Quick story. Today at my son’s baseball practice I was heavily involved in the drills and the teaching of the game to the kids (6,7 and 8 year olds). I even engaged in conversation with the parents as well. Side note the coaches name is jabu. At the end of practice a lot of the kids ran up to me and said “coach, can you help us every practice it was fun. ” of course I said yes, since its fun to me too. As I was walking to my car a few of the parents introduced themselves too me and said things like hey coach you did a great job,we love how the kids gravitate towards you,you did an awesome job etc…I say thank you of course and engage in minor conversation as well. As I get in my car I laugh a little only because I’m not even a coach of the team lol. It just goes to show what you say is correct expression can become impression. The way I expressed myself on the field gave them the impression I was a coach that they would love to have. So much so that when I got home I had a text message from the actual coach asking me to assist him with coaching lol. Sorry if this is all over the place but it’s 3:45 a.m. and I’m definitely tired. Great article, keep them coming. They are truly a joy to read. GoHardOrDieEasy

Exactly king! People love to say that they are not judging other people, but in all actuality when you first think see someone you do think to yourself what kind of person is he or she. That’s why they say, “First impressions are everything!” We are all human and it is innate within us to characterize other people. And those parents characterized you as a great coach. Somebody’s watching us at all times, whether we know it or not. While you were expressing your love for developing the youth, others noticed your love and charisma. #GoHardOrDieEasy
